MEDIA RELEASE: Shadow Puppet Workshops Coming to Town

02 May 2014: Ange Leech, visiting Tasmanian artist currently based in Kalgoorlie, will be running shadow puppet workshops where participants will be able to make their very own favourite sea creatures as part of the Larger than Life arts event.

The underwater themed workshops are open for people of all ages. On the Saturday participants will create puppets, and on the Sunday they will be able to return with their completed puppets to take part in a stop animation film workshop where they will create a film to be screened in the museum late on Sunday afternoon.

Ms Leech said that sea creatures made from cardboard, cellophane and kebab sticks can be brought to life with just a little light and imagination.

“I started working with puppets when I wanted my art to become interactive,” Ms Leech said.
