Act-Belong-Commit Resilience through Arts. August 2022

About the project

Act Belong Commit Resilience for Youth through Arts workshop, ‘The Floral Trap’, was focused on carnivorous plants that are mainly found in the Esperance region.
Participating artists were able to create stunning art works that depicted some of the 36 different species found in the Shire of Esperance. With a magnified focus on the flower and plant, the artists show how the plant has adapted to its surroundings by attracting and trapping insects for its nutrients.
Many of these pieces were displayed as part of the Esperance Wildflower Festival, Art Competition. We used this example to encourage students to reflect on the ability to adapt as one strategy for building resilience in our day to day lives
Big thanks to our wonderful artist facilitators Pauline Bonney (Karnpi Designs) and Carol Thompson (Lundy’s Creations)
